The Non-Fiction Foundry Framework

About the Framework

IOOPPTM (it rhymes with ‘I hop’) is our framework for taking you from a blank page to a published book.

It breaks publishing down into five sections:

1. IDEA: Developing your thoughts

Maybe you know a lot about your subject, but you’re unsure how to go about writing a book? If so, this is the starting point.

Our IOOPP system helps you formulate your idea, and sharpen it up. We examine who your reader will be, and what they need to know. That way, you can be sure your book will find a welcome.

2. ORGANISE: Arranging your content.

Once you know what your book should contain, we help you structure it.

Some writers have masses of content, and aren’t sure what to include or keep out. You might want to keep some of your material for a second book.

3. ORIGINATE: Getting down to writing.

Our writing plan will show you how to get words on to the page quickly, so you can finish your book faster. And we can help with the editing.

4. PUBLISH. Delivering the finished job.

Many writers find it hard to stop polishing. And they worry about what people will think of it.

Part of our job is to help you know when it’s ready. ‘Stop writing’ as the teachers say.

But it’s more than that. You need a title, a cover and a blurb, plus a few other things. Again, that’s unknown territory for some writers. We can help you with that.

5. PROMOTE. Getting your book in front of more readers.

For many writers, this is an unwelcome task. They say, ‘I’m a writer, not a marketing person’.

If that’s you, we’ll ease you into a new mindset, change your outlook, and get to grips with the world of marketing.

Without doing the marketing, your book won’t reach its intended audience. So you could launch your book and find nothing happens – no one reads it. And that’s unfair to the book and to your readers.

It’s also unfair to you because of all the hard work you’ve put in.

But rest assured, we’ll ease your way into what for some is an unknown world. And who knows, you may even get to like it.
